Dr. Mashood earned a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) in Taxation and LL.M in International Tax Laws from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, USA between 2018 & 2023. During his time at the University of Florida, Dr. Mashood undertook numerous projects including:
- Pioneered policy and legal analysis of taxing artificial intelligence in the paper “Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing: What the future holds for Taxation and Tax Administration”.
- Designed a groundbreaking solution for cryptocurrency taxation in the paper “The growing sophistication of ‘currency’ transactions: Taxation and monetary policy implications of digital currencies.”
- Conceptualized and detailed the Digital Tax Assurance System (DTAS) for addressing the tax challenges of the digital economy in a paper “Taxation of the Digital Economy is a Sphinx: Why the efforts to apply traditional economy tax rules are doomed to fail”.
- Explored the policy and legal rationale for introducing value-added tax (VAT) in the USA through a comparative analysis with the European Union.
Prior to his academic exploit in the US, Dr. Mashood obtained an LL.M in Oil & Gas Laws and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from University of Ghana School of Law in 2015 and 2011 respectively. During this period, Dr. Mashood developed a strong foundation in critical thinking, problem solving, legal research and analytical skills. Further, Dr. Mashood is a member of the Ghana Bar since 2013 and regularly participates in legal seminars and continuous legal education programs to stay abreast with new developments.
